LET'S MAKE A DIFFERENCE

These are weird times.

These are times that are bogging everyone down- mentally, physically, emotionally and financially.

Many of us want to help, but most of us are clueless on what to do.

Donating money for medical facilities is great and I genuinely believe that whoever has the financial ability to do this, MUST do it.

However this is not the only way in which you can make a difference.

Let’s see what else can be done-

  • TALK with the person who is unwell. Isolation is tough and any interaction is welcome.

  • Help them with basics like grocery shopping, shopping for other essentials.

  • If they have a pet, offer to care for the pet. Walk the pet, help prepare food for the pet.

  • Offer a healthy meal.

  • Offer suggestions to watch light-hearted movies/ series on the OTT platform/ Social media/ TV in general

  • Share recommendations of good music.

  • Offer books!

A list of dos is always followed by one of don’ts!

Here’s mine-

  • Don’t make them feel like the world is ending.

  • It is okay if you cannot help, but don’t discriminate.

  • Don’t tell them that if they would have/ would not have done ABC, they would be okay.

  • Don’t share every media update on the increase of cases and dearth of resources.

Spreading positivity is the least each of us can do. And it is the easiest help to offer.

Be someone’s smile, not their frown.

And if I get affected, here is what I expect-

  • Pizza. Extra cheese!

  • Aate ka halwa- with lots of ghee! (wheat halwa).

  • Lots of funny dog videos.

  • A download of the movie “Dude, where’s my car?”

  • A conversation on just HOW AMAZING Shahrukh Khan is!

Tough times don’t last. But they can be trying. Do your bit and make it easier for someone else to be tough!
